"I find your system better than the CAGED - it is more logical and I now have a better way to teach my son..." -John M.
"Guitar Grid provided what I've been missing for years. The logical progression of notes along a fret board. Once understood, the method enables you to play endless amounts of scales and progressions anywhere on the guitar." -John
"It's so easy to learn it's crazy. And, I knew it worked after I connected three different arpeggios of different tonalitys ( g-major to e-minor to c-major ) without even thinking, to create a melodic line, and was perfectly aware of what I was doing." -bass player
"The method is great, it takes the necessity of having to learn music theory out of playing the guitar. Now I can sit back and enjoy the instrument rather than struggle to understand where and why a progression goes from here." -Anonymous
"When the method is applied, those who can merely read a grid, become musicians." -Anonymous
"Cool concept for attaining intimacy with the fretboard. I do appreciate your making it available for a reasonable cost." -David

"Your system is as easy as sun in the summer time, very sweet." -Lance L.
"This is more of a visual way to approach scales. This unlocks the repeating pattern that every scale, chord, arpeggio etc.. contains. Learn the example shapes at first, it took me about 1 hour with guitargrid and I felt that I´d found a treasure, and i realized that if I dug even more then I would find another.. and another and another... This way of looking at the guitar gave me a new way to see things, instead of learning 7 different boxes for every scale in the world... you simply just figure out a small pattern that repeats itself and bang!!! Your mental map for each scale and arpeggio starts to take form in YOUR own way of seeing these little repeating patterns. ´" -Guitarist /Sweden
"Bill-- For a LONG time, I've "internalized" the typical guitar boxes, and improvised that way. When I started working your lessons, I wondered how I could put aside those visual patterns and do things differently. Surprisingly, the more I play off your ideas, the more changes I see. I'm also a writer of children's books (I just sold two picture-book bios of Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan), and am working now on a well-known jazz subject. Well, I've been listening to his work a lot, and when I went through your Triads lesson, remarkable things happened. Not only did I finally see how the triads move up and down the strings, but I started using those triad forms as jumping off points for playing. Everything suddenly had this lovely jazz feel, with improvisational ideas that seemed to come from nowhere. So, for what it's worth, shifting one's hearing habits--while working the Guitar Grid lessons--makes for unexpected and powerful results, too. very best, and thanks again," -GARY G.
"Wow, I never believe the comments on these websites, but this method works. I just played blues in B up and down the neck like a pro, top to bottom. I am blown away, no lie !" -Tom R
"This is without doubt, the finest program that I've seen. It's ashame that there isn't a video version. Incredible customer support! Thanks alot Bill. Let's Jam." -John Aff

Bill, First off let me say that after 20 years of a lot of confusion and very little playing....this is an awesome system you created here. My 12 year old nephew is already understanding it. Myself, I'm excited to pick up the guitar after work every day again. Thanks alot!!!! -Brian C. _____ Dear Bill Just a quick note to thank you for the amazing work you have done creating the GuitarGrid method. I ordered it almost a year ago and it has been the best money I have ever spent to improve my guitar skills. Your unique way of looking at the fretboard has unlocked infinite possibilties and I now find myself flying all over the neck of my instrument. I have been playing guitar for over 15 years, and I believe I have improved more in the past year than I have in the all the previous time combined. Thanks again, and thanks for the new lesson [in the Members' area]. -Steve from Newfoundland _____ You've heard it before, but - WOW! My understanding of the fretboard has greatly expanded in just a couple of days with the GuitarGrid Method! I'm a self taught player of 6 years and was pretty comfortable with pentatonic scales, knowing a few boxes and a sliding scale that allows me to climb the neck. But there were a lot of areas of the neck that I just couldn't play on well. It's like a light has been suddenly shone on my fretboard! After an hour or so of skimming through the program, I saw your comparison of grids and pentatonic boxes. CLICK! I am way "out of the box" now! I have always looked for and used some "logical" fretboard patterns, because they have always helped me a LOT. GuitarGrids are THE Ultimate Logical Pattern that explains ALL the other patterns! I wish I'd had this 6 years ago! I would be a MUCH more advanced player than I am now. I can't recommend this method enough. -Houston Blues Guy _____ Bill, I already posted a comment on your website about your method, but thought I would drop you a personal note about it. This system is really amazing, and I continue to have what someone else called "scary" fretboard insights. All the bits and pieces I had learned before are all falling RAPIDLY into place, even though I JUST STARTED with it! I know a lot of guitar players that will be hearing about it/purchasing it. I have always tried to help other players on their journey when I can, but I'll tell you I was VERY tempted to keep this knowledge a secret because it is SO powerful! However I can't do it to them, and you definatly deserve the $$$ for saving people like me YEARS of study. Anyway, I have a couple of friends that don't have computers and I might soon be purchasing at least one more copy (for them). P.S. You can edit and post this in your comments if you want to, and if you want further posts of praise I will be glad to oblige, I love talking about it! Thanks again! -Brian G. (A Houston Bluesguy) _____ Hi Bill-- OK, I have read the whole book a couple of times and I'm blown away. You know, I spent a lot of time learning the 5 basic pentatonic patterns of the CAGED system (and never was able to REALLY memorize the 5 major scale patterns). With guitargrid, I can play major and pentatonic patterns all over the fretboard...and it took me just a few minutes. This really is amazing. In fact, the guitar fretboard makes so much sense to me now it's scaring me. It's so amazing to see that first grid... It's a weird experience! The horizontal (and "overall") pattern in your system is very cool, and extremely easy. ...it's very simple and profound. ...your discussion of modes was great. Best explanation I've ever seen anywhere. Thanks again! -Tim C. _____ Thank you for making such a useful and concise learning tool. -grateful student, Nathan Pierce _____ WOW! I am only an hour into your concept and it is opening many doors of comprehension. I have been playing guitar for about three years and taking lessons for a little over one year to try to learn "music theory". Changing modes and memorizing the scales has been within my reach but not totally within my grasp. Within only a few minutes, still on your first page, it all came together, the missing link turned on the light. I know that I have only scratched the surface of your method but I can say that after buying and studying countless books on guitar and music theory, this method and concept is brilliant. Thanks. -Howard Smith _____ Bill, I purchased your guitar grid book yesterday and it immediately helped me understand the guitar better. I’ve played piano my entire life and only took up the guitar a couple of years ago. When I play piano I have an intuitive sense of scales and my fingers seem to “know” where to go. I was struggling with developing this sort of sense with the guitar and though I’d memorized the 5 pentatonic patterns per my instructor I wasn’t able to link between them easily and would often get stuck in one pattern or another when trying to improvise. Within a hour or so of studying your method I had vastly improved my ability to improvise all over the fretboard and really feel like this helped me break through to a new plateau in my guitar-playing ability. Thank you for your innovative and helpful book. Best regards, -Steve, Livermore, CA _____ Subject: Thanks for this incredible tool (Guitar Grid) Just wanted to send you a personal thank you for publishing the Guitar Grid - where were you when I was 12? (LOL). You've greatly advanced and simplified my grasp of chord theory on the guitar, which I've struggled with for years, as well as helping me understand modes and other musical theory as it pertains to the guitar. Also, your "booster" site is also a great expansion on the grid and worth a look for anyone who purchases the grid. I hope you'll continue to add to the "booster" site and expand on your grid theory. Best $ I ever spent on the 'web! Thanks again (and feel free to use this as a recommendation on your site, if you'd like) Regards, '-Screamin' Mimi AKA 'The Blister Sister' _____ Hi Bill! You have the best system out there! I have been playing guitar for 13 years. I have played in multiple bands, have some recordings in, and have now been teaching guitar for 3 years. Never has there been a system that has made it all so clear. I have gone through the CAGED method, but yours is simply the best! Thank you! Thanks for the book and your webite articles in the members area are enlightening! -Tom Bores _____ Subject: Finally, a method that really works! Dear Bill, My guitar was totally neglected until the GuitarGrid Method...now I can't put the guitar down...it all makes perfect sense. What is really exciting to me is the fact that this method encourages exploration, experimentation and creativity; it gives you the facts then the theory is at your command to actually make music. Thank you sooo much! (and my guitar thanks you!) -Deborah -- a grateful gridtarist _____ Subject: Long thanks... Hi Bill, I had been a guitar “player” for about 20 years (ironic quotes intentional), but, let’s be honest, after all that time (and quite a few lessons) I still felt like an imposter – someone who knew a few chords and scales, but would dread the thought of having someone suggest playing outside of a basic pentatonic scale (“oh please, oh please, can we play it in A minor”) or that wasn’t tabbed in front of me – I simply had no clue. I’ve tried a number of the books and “logic” systems, but all of them left me in pretty much the same boat – confused and, basically, unsure of what I was playing. I was simply in awe of people who could play anywhere on the neck and somehow “magically” know where the notes were. I would think ‘How the hell do they do that?’ My memory is just not that good!’ Then when you threw in key changes I pretty much figured that, given my poor memory, my playing would be relegated to tab music for the rest of my life. So, I was understandably a bit (ok, a lot) wary of yet another “easy” guitar method. But your approach (and the comments) sounded unique, so I just went ahead and bought it. At first I tried it a bit here and there and liked it, but because I didn’t really understand it, I still saw it as another pentatonic-based system that would leave me about where I was before. It wasn’t until I really focused on it and practiced that the incredible power of the method showed itself. In just a couple of days something just clicked and I found I had began to actually understand the guitar neck. Whereas previously I would have to really think about even the basic scales before I could play (and using a mode was at best a guess at the notes) I found that now I could not only easily find scales, but the modes within scales as well, and intuitively link them up and down the neck with ease. Having now spent about 3 weeks focused on it, I can confidently say that I now KNOW where the notes are. Given a key I can instantly find all the related scales (pentatonic and diatonic), play every mode within that scale, build chords off any note, and do so on the fly and in any location on the neck I choose! Through the Guitar Grid method I have gone from a hack amateur never having a clue as to what notes to play to stay in the same key, to a hack amateur never playing a note outside the key – my fingers now know where to play – it’s almost as if they can’t play the wrong notes! As others have said, it’s kind of scary… Because of this, my playing has improved a thousand fold and, more importantly, my enjoyment of the guitar has grown immeasurably (I mean, how many times can you play Sweet Home Alabama or Dream On before you are REALLY sick of them???). I now pick up the guitar every moment I can – it’s the first thing I do in the AM and the last thing before I go to bed – and am playing things using my own ideas, not constantly trying to copy someone else’s. By using the Guitar Grid I am now able to jam and solo with complete confidence, allowing my brain to focus on what I want to say with the guitar, rather than trying to figure out where the next note I want is located. I would tell anyone – if you want to play the guitar, this is the place to start. Period. Guitar Grid will allow you to play (and more importantly UNDERSTAND) the guitar faster than any other method I have ever seen. For those who have spent a few years struggling with other methods on their own, you will find that it will allow you to combine everything you have learned previously, pull it together logically and put it into actual use with an ease not seen in other methods. For those taking lessons, it will allow you to stop wasting your valuable lesson time trying to find the right notes and instead spend it on the reason you hired your teacher to begin with – to tap into their knowledge of playing music. So, Bill, this is a rather long-winded way of saying ‘Thanks’! I am someone who has dreamed of being a musician for years, and you have made it a reality. Best regards, -Matt P. _____ Hi Bill As impressed as I am with the grid (and I am),I am even more impressed with the way you run your business! After I lost the grid when my computer crashed,I offered to re purchase the grid. You sent it free of charge. After I failed to download it fast enough;you re-sent it.Then you followed it up with a note to make sure that the download was successful.Very impressive! I can't recommend your product or you highly enough. Thank-you for all your effort, -Richard (By the way, I got it!) _____ Bill, I just bought your method and I've got to say it is amazing. I've been tinkering with guitar on & off for 15 years but still couldn't really find my way around the fretboard beyond first position. After a couple hours I finally "see" the pattern and all my other skills i've learned are coming together. The creativity this method opens up feels so awesome, it's exploding!! Thanks very much. Money well spent. -Dean M. _____ Hi Bill, I've been playing so long that my fingers sort of know where they want to go without thinking too much but I LOVE your system. I'm a guitar method junkie and I had to get yours. I can see where it's going to bring me to a whole other level. (And I was getting pretty happy about where I was anyway.) Thanks, -Kathy By the way, about my comments for your site, here are two more you can use. "One half hour guitar lesson is about the price of this book and this book has the equivalent of many many lessons." Also, "The chapter on tension/resolution alone, available as a GuitarGrid Insight Booster is worth the ticket price. It clearly explains this topic, an explanation I've been looking for for years." _____ I have to say that the single thing that has helped me translate my love for lead guitar riffs and lead-fills has been the "guitar grid". I have learned to smoothly transition between pentatonic scales and regular scales because of the guitar grid. I almost never lose position. The best learning guitar tool I've ever seen for lead guitar! THANKS! -Michael Ebaugh 30 yr. worship rhythm guitarist _____ |
